Franck Zal, Ph.D

Dr. Franck Zal, co-founder of the company, brings his internationally recognized scientific expertise to the field of the respiratory pigments of invertebrates. He received his Ph.D. degree with honors in oceanography in 1996 from the University of Paris VI where his doctoral research focused on the structure-function relationships of the annelid extracellular hemoglobin. After his Ph.D. he spent three years abroad as part of his postdoc program, two years at the University of Santa Barbara in California (UCSB), USA and one year at the University of Antwerp. For his work, he received in 2001 the bronze medal of CNRS. Dr.Franck Zal, is the author of over 70 publications in international peer reviewed scientific journals, the author of several patents and he presented his work in numerous international meetings. He is presently President of Bretagne Biosciences and Vice President of France Biotech. He is also the head of an academic research group and consequently has a good management practice




Morgane Rousselot, Ph.D.
Chief Technical Officer

Dr. Morgane Rousselot, co-founder of HEMARINA, will take charge of the operational aspect of Hemarina research and development programs. In 2001, she was employed during one year in the “Research and Development Analytical Chemistry department” of GlaxoSmithKline in UK. In 2002, she obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering (Diplôme d’Ingénieur) at ENSCMu (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Mulhouse) with qualification in Chemistry-Biology-Healthcare. And the same year obtained her master degree in Interface Chemistry-Biology and molecular modelling. She received her Ph.D. degree with honors in biochemistry in 2006 from the University of Paris VI where her doctoral research focused on the properties of Arenicola marina hemoglobin HbAm and its potential use as a blood substitute. In 2006, she obtained a grant “Jeune Créateur d’Entreprise” delivered by Bretagne Innovation in order to create the Biotechnology society Hemarina,. She possesses strong expertises in analytical chemistry and structural biology (liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, multi-angle-laser-ligth scattering, electrophoresis,…). Dr. Morgane Rousselot is the author of 6 publications in international peer reviewed scientific journals, the author of 4 patents and she presented her work in over 10 international meetings
